The Adventure Begins!!

It is hard to believe that in just about 12 hours, (8:00 AM) my plane leaves for Washington D.C. (Well, assuming there are no delays.) I have been anticipating this trip since I was accepted into the ILC in December, but my anticipation has increased ten-fold in the past week. Up until that point, it seemed that time was going by so quickly, but now time seems to be getting slower and slower by the minute. I have no idea what my favorite part of the trip will be, but I think visiting colleges, spending the 4th of July in Washington D.C., and attending Vanderbilt will be the best parts. Only time will tell.

I am really looking forward to touring the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University and Georgetown University in the coming week. From the UPenn and Columbia blogs, I can tell that their campuses are amazing, and I can't wait to see them for myself. I am sure Georgetown will be awesome too, but that will be a complete surprise, as I have had no blog preview of that campus.

Spending the 4th of July in Washington D.C. will be a unique experience. I am sure it will be lots of fun, but is will definitely be extremely crowded, and possibly raining. Currently, we plan on visiting the Air and Space Museum, Holocaust Museum, and various other museums and memorials.

My bags are ready to go.
Attending Vanderbilt will most definitely be a life changing experience. I plan to learn as much as possible in "Special Topics in Mathematics," so I can get a head start Pre-Calculus, and help others with it. I am really looking forward to taking a math course with a college professor. That's not to say high school math teachers are bad, but a college professor should be more knowledgable, and teach more advanced topics. Also, living in a dorm with a roommate will be a unique experience. I have never done this before, so we shall see how it goes. I hope I get a good roommate!!

I spent today (and yesterday) packing my bags to make sure I have everything I will need in Washington D.C. and at Vanderbilt. My bags are packed, and I'm ready to go and enjoy this life changing experience!!

  1. You’re going to have the time of your life, Thomas.

You’ll have to let me know how your luggage pom-poms fare with the luggage handlers.
